Empire Ranch Spring Trail Ride next month

The Empire Ranch Foundation is sponsoring its annual Spring Trail Ride coming up on Saturday, April 1st.

Two three-hour rides are scheduled. The morning ride starts at 9am. The afternoon ride heads off at 2pm. Participants will be taken around the historic Empire Ranch andthe Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. The ranch has been the backdrop of a number of Hollywood Westerns including “Monte Walsh,” “Red River,” and “3:10 to Yuma.” Also filmed at the Empire were television episodes of “Bonanza” and “Gunsmoke.”

In between the rides, participants will be served a “cowboy lunch” along with drinks. Other events include Western music, storytellers, raffles, tours & more.

Visit the Empire Ranch Foundation website to sign up. Participants can bring their own horse or horses will be available for rent for the ride.

Directions from Tucson

  • Go east on I-10 and exit at Route 83 (scenic highway)
  • Proceed south on Route 83 approximately 18 miles to the paved road on your left between mile post 40 and 39. Watch for brown Historic Empire Ranch sign on the right side of the highway.
  • Turn east (left) onto paved road and follow for 3 miles to the Empire Ranch House on your left.

  • Head west on I-10 and exit at Route 83 (scenic route)
  • Proceed south on Route 83 approximately 18 miles to the paved road on your left between mile post 40 and 39. Watch for brown Historic Empire Ranch sign on the right side of the highway.
  • Turn east (left) onto paved road and follow for 3 miles to the Empire Ranch House on your left.

Directions from Sonoita

  • Go north on Route 83 for 6.6 miles, to the paved road on your right between milepost 39 and 40. Watch for brown Historic Empire Ranch sign on the right side of the highway.
  • Turn east (right) onto paved road and follow for 3 miles to the Empire Ranch House on your left.
