The Empire Ranch Foundation held its annual Spring Trail Ride last Saturday, April 1. Nearly 75 riders signed up for the event that consisted of a morning ride and an afternoon ride. In between rides, participants were treated to Western music and a cowboy lunch. Monies raised from the event benefit the restoration of the historic Empire Ranch.

Cowboy lunchtime in between the morning and afternoon rides
Five members of the Pima County School Retirees Association attended the Spring Trail Ride Get-Together at Empire Ranch on April 1, 2017. Barbara Macpherson, Tom Arthur, Jim Marr, Stewart & Terry Bagwell toured the ranch house with docent Karen King and former cowboy Gerald Korte, who both added so much to what we were able to observe on our own. We were not brave enough to consider actually riding a horse on one of the trail rides, but we were thrilled to watch the morning riders return to the ranch. I enjoyed talking to one of the volunteers who works with the horses from the horse rescue group and to learn a bit about the fall gathering at the ranch which sounds like another good day-trip.
