Franzi’s Blog: ICYMI – SoAzNewsX candidate endorsements

When casting your 2016 ballot for President, U.S. Senate, Arizona Congressional seats, the Arizona Legislature and Pima County offices, we want you to consider our choices for office:

Federal offices:

President – Donald Trump/Mike Pence

U.S. Senate – John McCain

Congressional District 1 – no endorsement

Congressional District 2 – Martha McSally

Congressional District 3 – Anybody other than Raul Grijalva

COUNTYWIDE

Three Republican deserve your support:

SHERIFF – MARK NAPIER

Enough said – the local media actually picked up on this, and a STAR reporter actually did a decent job. Congrats to Caitlin Schmidt. Big question – when you unseal an indictment and one of the charges involves “conspiracy”, who be the other conspirator/s?

We haven’t found a Democrat with a three digit IQ who’s voting for appointed Sheriff Chris Nanos.

SUPERINTENDENT  OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION – MARGARET BURKHOLDER

Done a great job on the Vail School Board , and is running against the bozo Dem who thought the year of the election was more relevant than his name. Biggest influence in this office is its power to fill all school board vacancies including PCC. Suspect Margaret won’t be appointing any lefties.

TREASURER – BETH FORD

Running unopposed . One of the finest public officials holding local office so make sure you mark that one.

Three Democrats are running against minor opposition for the other three county offices..

RECORDER – F. ANN RODRIGUEZ

While we strongly differ with her and the other election folks who do their best to promo this vote by mail crapola, it was the dummies in the GOP legislature who suckered for this one in the first place. Ann runs a decent and fair shop and her opponents are basically clueless, so let this one pass or join us in voting for a Democrat.

COUNTY ATTORNEY – BARBARA LA WALL

Again, token pygmy opposition. Her gun grabbing instinct says we leave this one blank.

COUNTY ASSESSOR  – BILL STAPLES

Again, no reasonable opposition but pick one as Staples is basically a Grijalva protégé.

BY DISTRICT

TUSD  MARK STEGEMAN AND BRETT RUSTAND

Stegeman is a definite keeper and we need to add Rustand to bring sanity back to this pork-driven overpriced under-performing bureaucracy driven mess.

STATE LEGISLATURE

Again, reasonably cut and dried by party in all districts but one.

LD 2 – CHRIS ACKERLEY

A bright young school teacher who is an excellent legislator – and he’s a Republican who actually lives in Pima County, although forced by the phony Democrats running the “Independent Re-apportionment Commission” to represent Santa Cruz. We need him in the majority caucus to cover Pima. It isn’t only party or ideology that drives many things – try geography.

LD9 – ANNA HENDERSON NOT

One more that needs mention. Anna Henderson in LD9 comes off as a dogmatic ideologue of unknown origins. Her attitude towards governance is strident and she had to be coaxed by Bruce Ash to come on INSIDE TRACK after refusing an invitation. We’d let that slide but for the fact that she’s the only GOP LD candidate in the state who blew off answering the NRA’s questionnaire.

These are the ones that cause you ego problems later on – don’t waste a vote on her.

COUNTY SUPERVISOR DISTRICTS TWO, FOUR AND FIVE

All three major party candidates face only third party minor opposition. Incumbent Democrat Ramon Valadez has done OK in District Two, Republican Steve Christy is opposed by a militant pinko in District Four, and lefty Grijalva’s guy Richard Elias is a decent fellow opposed by a write-in. Game over in all three

COUNTY SUPERVISORS DISTRICTS ONE AND THREE

This is really an entry unless someone can find something that Ally Miller and Kim DeMarco have differed on.

Both opposed the NO KILL animal shelter, both would’ve let Maricopa interests rip us off for $32 million and fought a court case won on a summary judgement, and  both chant a narrow and often vicious  mantra.

Miller is not only a disruptive force, but a total whack job if you bother to check her public utterances. She does have a certain appeal to early Americans though– they lived in Salem about 1690.

She also an obvious liar. Caught innumerable times in her e-mail flow (Hillary, you are not alone) the little add-ons placed on her signs tell us she’s either delusional or a total fabricator.

Try “ALLY STOPPED COUNTY SALES TAX”

Ah, nothing to stop. Voters already had four times, and a simple fact check tells us it was RAY CARROLL who blocked the tax sales tax after that by refusing  to give it the unanimous vote it required. It died years ago.

So is Miller delusional or just a liar?

One more detail – Miller and DeMarco oppose any subsidy to any business wishing to relocate here. Hey SAHBA and Board of Realtors, how do you plan to stay in business building and selling homes to all those new residents Pima County will receive from economic expansion if these two ANTI-GROWTHERS are in office?

When DeMarco announced it was obvious that she knew little about county government, but candidates often grow into it. We have two weeks until the election and she still doesn’t know squat. Listen to her shallow babble and fnd anything she differs with Miller about.

The choices here are simple.

DISTRICT ONE – BRIAN BICKEL

Actually, more than just a protest vote. Beyond a good military record, he actually grasps county government. An easy choice

DISTRICT THREE  – SHARON BRONSON

No one has been hit by more cheap shots than Sharon. Her support of the shooting sports, her moving us into a no-kill animal shelter, and  the fact that we have a County that is nationally rated #3 in job procurement makes her a keeper.

ARIZONA CORPORATION COMMISSION
