The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (9-4-1) found itself in another battle with Cochise College on Tuesday in Douglas.

The Aztecs held on to beat the Apaches (4-9-1) 2-1 as they swept the regular season meetings. The Aztecs won 2-1 in double overtime last month at Kino North Stadium.

Sophomore Alexis Hernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) came through once again as she scored two goals in the 2nd and 59th minutes to give the Aztecs a two-goal advantage. Hernandez now has 15 goals on the season.

Sophomore Emily Gallagher (Sahuaro HS) had the assist in Hernandez’s first goal. The Apaches cut the lead in half in the 71st minute but wouldn’t get any closer.

The Aztecs and the Apaches each had six shots on goal. Sophomore Tara Kase (Buena HS) finished the game with five saves.

The Aztecs hit the road again on Thursday when they play at Scottsdale Community College. The Aztecs look to sweep the head-to-head meetings with the Artichokes as Pima won 1-0 last month at Kino North Stadium.

Pima goals: Alexis Hernandez (Emily Gallagher) 2nd minute; Hernandez 59th minute.
