From The Politistick
At Wednesday’s White House press conference with Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, FOX News’ White House Correspondent John Roberts asked Sanders about the speech made on the Senate floor by Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) during which he compared President Donald Trump to brutal, communist dictator Josef Stalin.
In Flake’s obviously warped mind, Trump’s comments calling out many news outlets who warp, distort and selectively report news as “fake news” is equivalent to the brutal, murderous regime of Stalin, who was responsible for upwards of 20 million deaths.
Cue the quick wit and sharp tongue of Sarah Huckabee Sanders who does not cower and back down when confronted by the White House press corps or anyone for that matter.
“In response to Senator Flake specifically, I found it quite interesting that he is coming out to attack this president considering he’s one that was recently defending an actually oppressive regime. He went to Cuba a few weeks ago and served as a mouthpiece for the oppressive Cuban government.”
“He’s not criticizing the president because he’s against oppression. He’s criticizing the president because he has terrible poll numbers and he is, I think, looking for some attention. I think it’s unfortunate and, certainly, I think our position here at the White House is that we welcome access to the media every day. I’m standing right here taking questions, the President does so regularly and to act as if we’re anything but open to that back and forth exchange is utterly ridiculous.”
She’s correct. Flake’s assertion and comparison of President Trump to Josef Stalin are not only ludicrous, they are insensitive and an insult to those who lost their lives or lost loved ones at the violent hand of Stalin. The fact that he recently defended another brutal dictator, Raul Castro, makes his soapbox comparison as he tries to rack up points for what many think will be a 2020 challenge against President Trump even more asinine and hypocritical.
If Senator “Flakey” Flake thinks that using the words “fake news” is the moral equivalent of murdering tens of millions of people, then perhaps he needs to subject himself to a test to determine whether he is mentally fit to serve.
