While many were out celebrating Labor Day in some form or another, a group of rodeo cowboys and cowgirls spent their Labor Day Weekend at the 102nd Annual Sonoita Labor Day Rodeo. Hundreds of visitors to the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds enjoyed music, western-style vendors, and, of course, watching the cowboys fall off the animals they drew for their ride.

Southern Arizona News-Examiner Photo Editor Sally Reichardt captured some of the action in between her cooking chores with the Elgin Club which fed the masses. All photos are © Sally Reichardt.

Of course the Empire Ranch Foundation was at the rodeo handing out information about the historic ranch and promoting the up-coming Empire Ranch Roundup on Nov. 4. From left to right: Bunker de France, Sally Pyne and Harry Alexander.

This bull was successful in throwing his rider.
